Report 7th South American gathering

The 7th South American Sub Region Gathering was held in Cusco, Peru from 23rd-26th of October 2025. 41 Members participated from Argentina (10), Bolivia (5), Chile (3), Peru (15), Uruguay (3), Venezuela (2), Curaçao (1) and Spain (2).

During the business session amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) were made and approved.

A call for a host country to organize the 8th gathering will be launched again soon. The elected South America Sub-Region SASR) Committee consists temporally of: 

Chairman (right): Paul Gonzales - Peru
Vice-Chairman (left): Omar Coppa – Argentina
Secretary: not yet elected

Participants learned from others’ presentations and exchanged and sold articles at the international market. Also, folkloric dances could be enjoyed during the meals served in the various Peruvian cuisine restaurants.

The highlight was a tour to the Willoq Community, an indigenous village located in the Ollantaytambo district renowned for preserving and living its ancestral Inca traditions. The participants could learn about their culture, food, participate in weaving and in a spiritual experience the “Pago a la Tierra” (Payment to the Earth).

Ties have been strengthened once again and participants returned home very satisfied about the excellent organization by Asociacion Scouts y Guias Adultos del Peru (ASGAP) and with the hope of meeting each other again at the Western Hemisphere Regional Conference to be held in Trinidad & Tobago in September 2026.
