Online meeting for International Secretaries of the Arab Region

online arabic isOn March 12th 2025 the ISGF Arab Region and the Arab Union of Scout and Guide Pioneers organized an online Zoom meeting for International Secretaries in the Arab Region. They discussed the pros and cons as part of the annual programs and activities 2025.

Strengthening international relations of Arab Fellowships
The evening was held under the patronage of Dr. Rima Wajih Draghmeh, a member of the Federation's Executive Committee, in the presence of Ali Al-Ali, Assistant Secretary General, along with international secretaries and members of the International Relations Committee, with the distinguished participation of Essia Fathallah, Vice chairman of ISGF World Committee.
Mahmoud Ghebllawi, head of local fellowship of Tripoli, Libya, was the official speaker for the evening. The meeting was moderated by Dr. Lubna Musa Abu Sarhan, Chair of the International Relations Committee, and the guest was led by Ibrahim, Coordinator of the General Secretariat of the Arab Union at ISGF.
There were important recommendations for developing the performance of international secretaries and enhancing the global presence of Arab NSGFs. They discussed their role and responsibilities in strengthening Arab Fellowship international relations.

Speakers
The evening opened with a welcoming speech by Dr. Lubna Abu Sarhan, followed by an opening speech by Dr. Rima Daraghmeh, who emphasized the pivotal role played by international secretaries in the Arab and international arenas. She noted that this evening aimed to enhance their effective role and develop their performance to be more influential and distinguished in strengthening relations and ties at the Arab and international levels. Afterward, Ibrahim Zabila presented a brief biography of the evening's guest.

He praised his experience and valuable contributions to supporting international secretaries and addressed several important topics related to international secretaries, which were covered in his presentation, most notably:

1. The importance of the International Secretaries' communication with ISGF and the Arab Union.
2. The International secretaries must possess technical skills enabling him or her to communicate in one of the ISGF languages (English or French), as well as proficiency in electronic communication methods, report preparation, data analysis, relationship development, negotiation, and concluding agreements and twinning.
3. Familiarity with policies, procedures, and regulations related to pioneers, starting with the ISGF and the Arab Union Constitutions.
4. Complete and follow up on reports and forms related to his NSGF and send them to the ISGF, providing it with all necessary data.
5. Follow up on relevant international and Arab events, and encourage NSGFs to participate in conferences and gatherings.

Charting a roadmap to the next phase
In her remarks, Dr. Lubna Abu Sarhan emphasized that this evening represents a real opportunity to strengthen the efforts of international secretaries and move from the preparation and planning phase to the implementation phase, charting a roadmap for the next phase. She emphasized that the Union has two golden opportunities to overcome challenges with the ISGF, in the presence of Essia Fathallah and Ibrahim Zabila.

Follow up
The evening concluded with a series of recommendations presented by Dr. Lubna Abu Sarhan, most notably:
• Rectifying the status of NSGFs with ISGF over the next three months, while presenting the international secretaries' achievements, plans, and preparations for twinning.
A meeting will be held after three months to follow up on progress in implementing these recommendations.
