Maharashtra State Indian Fellowship annual general assembly 2019
"Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Fellowship", was the theme at the General Assembly held in Mumbai on the 21st December 2019 of the Maharashtra State Indian Scout and Guide Fellowship (SGF).
The speakers, Mrs. Reema Menon, president of the Thane District Fellowship and Mrs. Pragati Salevekar, President of the Lonavala Guild, both prominent educationists, elaborated theme lucidly explaining the 17 SDG goals set by the United Nations to be achieved by the year 2030 for creating a better world without poverty and hunger and protecting mother nature. They, one by one, discussed the goals and emphasized that we, the State branch of the Indian SGF are modestly engaged since last sixty years fulfilling some of the goals like educating the poor, healthcare, providing pure drinking water, gender equality, hygiene and sanitation.
Also, partnerships with like-minded organisations, more specifically with our international organisation ISGF, Bharat Scouts and Guides and our national organisation, the Indian SGF with the spirit of Scouting and Guiding.
The members from the districts and guilds actively participated in the discussions and pledged to carry forward the goals with more vigor and motivation in the areas they live and work.
The State Fellowship also awarded the "Hariram Mehta Excellence" award of USD $150 to Vishnu Agarwal, president of the Greater Mumbai SGF for his meritorious services in promoting scouting and guiding and community service leading to empowering the youths to be self-employed and self-dependent. The Thane District SGF and the Lonavala Guild SGF were also honored as the best units of the State Fellowship for the year 2018 and 2019 respectively.
The common programme for the year 2020 was declared as "Mother and Child". They also cut a cake to herald the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Greater Mumbai SGF.
