Special awards issued in Granada, Spain

Presentation_Awards_SpainAt the end of June 2009, two members of the local Scout and Guide Fellowship in the city of Granada in the region of Andalusia received the special distinguished service award the so-called “Piña de Plata” in recognition of their years of leadership and service. Carlos Borregón received the 3rd Piña de Plata while Mariano Sánchez Pantoja received the 1st Piña de Plata with an accompanying certificate.

The Certificate of Recognition to Ivory Coast

ceremony_Ivory_CoastHow quickly time goes by! Already two months! At the end of March, I received a message from Bolou Camille, Chairman of the National Scout and Guide Fellowship (NSGF) of Ivory Coast, requesting my presence at a party on Saturday 18th April, 2009 in the buildings of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

I was to give to my friend Camille the ISGF Certificate recognising that Ivory Coast had become an “ISGF Associate member” during the last World Conference (Vienna, Austria, August 2008).

As soon as I arrived in the yard, I was welcomed by a Guide and a Scout who led me to the room, between two lines of Scouts and Guides. Seated on the platform, I could see that there were already about 100 young Scouts and Guides of all the Scouting and Guiding Organisations of Ivory Coast, and among them the small group in charge of the fun events….their shirt is orange !

Peace jamboree 1947 opening of the museum

Jamboree__museum_MoissonThe Peace Jamboree in 1947 took place in Moisson downstream of Paris (France) on the Seine.

The Scout and Guide Spirit Flame stopped on the Jamboree site in July 2007 to commemorate both the centenary of scouting and the 60th anniversary of the Jamboree. Moisson municipality decided to create a Museum, partly dedicated to the Jamboree.

Kindling the flame in Norway

 kindling_the_flame.jpgIn 2007, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship St George's Guilds of Norway adopted an ambitious plan for expansion. As a result, the national leadership decided to cooperate with resource persons in the fellowship, to inspire them and provide them with tools for their efforts for expansion.
We are now registering the results in a survey. Several new guilds have been founded, and we are getting positive responses from the districts.

Re-unveiling of the restored monument commemorating the 1937 Jamboree

re-unveiling_monument_1937.jpgrestored_monument_1937.jpgOn 25th September 1987 the Jamboree monument was erected by the Dutch National Scout and Guide Fellowship to commemorate the event. After restoration, it was re-unveiled on 9th May 2009 by three former Scouts who participated or visited the Jamboree at that time in 1937. The event took place at the same spot where it was erected in 1987 where the Jamboree had been held.

35th Twinning event Belgium - The Netherlands

35th twinning nl bOn April 19th, 2009 the committees of the Belgian and the Dutch National Scout and Guide Fellowships, the Vlaamse Oud-Scouts en Oud-Gidsen (VOSOG) and Plus-Scouts Nederland, traditionally gathered for the 35th time.

Celebration Founders Day/Thinking Day in Malaysia

A dinner was held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club, Kuala Lumpur, on the 21st of  February 2009. The event attracted 280 friends and members of FOFSAG, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Malaysia.

New Federation in Andalucia, Spain

New federation in Spain

On November 5th, 2008, the adult Scouts from Córdoba, Andalucia in Spain signed an agreement to form an Adult  Scout and Guide Federation in Andalucia together with the Association of Adult Scouts "El Bordon". The new President is Antonio Jesús Lillo of AGAE (Asociación Granadina Adultos del Escultismo) from Granada and Vice President is Angel Jiménez of "El Bordón",  Córdoba.
