On the occasion of the birthday (27 April) of King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands, Lygia Da Costa Gomez, member of National Scout and Guide Fellowship Copernicia of Curacao, received the civilian order of merit as member of “Oranje Nassau”.
Because of the restrictions of COVID-19 the official ceremony could not take place in April but the award was handed over in July. The decoration was given by Lucille George Wout, the Governor of Curacao.
Lygia received this honorary medal for her valuable and tireless contribution to community work especially for the youth, elderly and disabled persons. She is known as a committed and very helpful member. From 1991 to 2014 she acted as International Secretary and during 36 years she also served in many other committees and in the Board of our Fellowship.
