The Maharashtra branch of the Indian Scout and Guide Fellowship held its 61st Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, India, on the 3rd of September 2023.
The virtual Regional Summit meeting on the 7th Anniversary of the Western Hemisphere (WH) Region on September 5, 2023 was a great success. More than 35 members from 14 countries were online and some WH members got the possibility to tell a short positive anecdote why they joined the Adult Scout organization.
Independence Day is celebrated annually on 15 August as a public holiday in India commemorating the nation's independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.
Report 11th ISGF Europe Conference, Ranum Denmark, 30 July to 3 August 2023.
Four years after the 10th ISGF Europe Conference in Bremen, we were very happy to meet this year in Ranum, Denmark, at this very important ISGF event. Around 30 IAG members attended this Conference which gave us the opportunity to have a good chat with many of them.
During 30th July – 3rd August 2023 a very succesful 11th Europe Region Conference has been held in Ranum, a northern city in Denmark. The participation has been significant, 130 participants from 22 European countries (out of the in total 28).
The program has been very rich including opening and closing ceremonies. A successfull quorum for approval of the chairman of the Conference, vice-chairman , resolutions committee and tellers. On the agenda were the quadriennal and financial reports, amendments and motions of the Europe Region constitution and budget approvals. Also the action plan of the new Europe Regional Committee was announced. The 12th European Region Conference (2026) has been approved in Germany (Weimar).
On 16 July 2023 the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Trinidad & Tobago held their 2nd Gathering at La Vega Estate, a nature and recreation park.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June. This day is celebrated and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It is supported by many non-governmental organizations. In 2023 World Environment Day was focused as a reminder on people’s actions concerning plastic pollution matters. The steps governments and businesses are taking to tackle plastic pollution are the consequence of this action.
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day, after it was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. Over the past five decades, with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) at the helm, the day has grown to be one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach. Tens of millions of people participate online and through in-person activities, events and actions around the world.
MASCI, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Italy is committed, with other Italian scout associations, to organizing twinnings between Italian scout groups and Ukrainian scouts (PLAST). Despite the war, they managed to organize 11 twinnings for a total of about 200 Ukrainian scouts.
Due to constraints on travel world-wide resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic, which commenced in 2020, the 29th World Conference could not take place in Madrid, Spain. Instead it was held virtually on 26/27 February 2022 with the platform party and a small team based in Brussels. NSGF Spain had accepted the proposition from World Committee to be the host for the 30th ISGF World Conference.
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the loss of Lord Michael Baden-Powell. The global Scout community is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Lord Michael Baden-Powell, grandson of the Founder of Scouting, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who has Gone Home peacefully on 3 July 2023 at the age of 82.
