The World Bureau received an e-mail with the following text:

A few years ago I had an article, "Searching for Az", published in World Gazette Mondiale.  As a result I received a number of helpful emails about Agnes Baden-Powell.  I should like the writers of these emails, and all others who are interested, to know that my biography, "The First Girl Guide", has just been published.

some_Woonona_TG_membersWoonona Trefoil Guild situated in the northern suburb of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, numbers ten (10) members only. When they were asked to support World Vision Australia, whose mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged and at-risk children and communities, the Guild members decided to participate and they started with knitting jumpers for overseas babies. The jumpers were going to World Vision for distribution.

Cheque presentation in Australia to Victoria Scout and Guide Associations Print E-mail

Cheque_presentationThe state of Victoria in southern Australia has been hit last year with hundreds of bush fires during a record-breaking heat wave. Unfortunately, these fires have proved to be the deadliest in Australia. The cheque for a total of 10,000.00 AU$ was presented to the Victoria Scout and Guide Associations in Victoria in April this year.

Bianca_honouredThe Queen of the Netherlands honoured Bianca Prins-Els, who made a valuable contribution to our youth and adults via music lessons in Curacao. Bianca was one of the members who helped with the foundation of the National Scout and Guide Fellowship - "Copernicia" and was elected the first National President of this organization - 25 years ago. Bianca received the honour as member of the order of Orange-Nassau from the Governor of the Netherlands Antilles".

This royal honour expresses appreciation of a person’s merits and achievements in the service of the community.

Cookson, Lady Mayoress (Newcastle Upon Tyne).

The presentation of this award was given to Northumberland Scouts United Kingdom for their 20+ years of continuous help and contact with the Uganda Scout Association.
