Since 1922 the Swedish commemorate “Vasaloppet” one of the worlds longest cross country ski races, an event that attracts nearly 50.000 skiers. It is annually held on the first Sunday of March and this time it was the 86th race. During the 90 kilometres route the skiers need a lot of service and a rich source of the homemade energy.
Ten (10) members from a local Swedish Scout and Guide Fellowship were involved and they supplied scouts and other skiers with blueberry soup, water, coffee, chocolate and sugar before they arrive at the finish. The event relies upon the many volunteers. The atmosphere is a combination of tradition, history and a feeling of friendship. All the people who were served by the Swedish guild members were very thankful and they got the energy to fulfil their mission to the finish.
