World Conferences

wconf2022 platformThe 29th ISGF World Conference was held in a studio in Brussels, Belgium on 26 and 27 February 2022 from 12:00 – 13:30 hour. A total of 44 delegates out of 66 membership countries attended the conference including the Central Branch representative. This World Conference was different from other World Conferences as there was only the voting on a special adjusted business agenda.

The Chairman of World Committee, Zalillah Mohd Taib, welcomed everyone from Malaysia with her speech on a pre-recorded video. She and many of the World Committee members could still not come to Brussels due to the restrictions of COVID-19 regarding traveling.

ISGF was very proud to announce 11 new members of which Angola, Chile, Guatemala, Palestine, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela became a full member and Brazil, Netherlands, Peru, South Korea and Suriname became an Associated Member Organization. Argentina, who became a member at the 28th World Conference in Bali became now a full Member. They all received their official certificate.

ISGF has now National Scout and Guide Fellowships in 75 countries and Central Branch has members in 32 countries. The necessary time was spent on the Constitutional Amendments and some adjustments were made.

Congratulations to the three ISGF members who were elected to the World Committee:

  • Vanessa Hoogenbergen (Curacao)
  • Prosper Bani (Ghana)
  • Ana Rodrigues (Portugal)

The new World Committee has chosen Elin Richards as the new Chairman and Vanessa Hoogenbergen and Ana Rodrigues as the new Vice-Chairmen.

The Quadrennial report of the World Committee 2017 – 2021 was showcased what has been accomplished in the extreme difficult years but despite the difficulties with the pandemic the development of ISGF continued. The two global projects, one in Haiti and the other one at the refugee camp in Uganda were closed.

The closing ceremony started off with the song “Auld Lang Syne” performed by André Rieu.

Spain will still host the 30th ISGF World Conference which will be held in Madrid in 2024.

A more detailed report is in preparation and will be published on the ISGF website. In addition, a You Tube video will be published soon showing the recordings of both World Conference days 26 and 27 February, 2022.
