On the 25th of July, 2021, some members of the Ghana Scout and Guide Fellowship voluntary donated blood to the Blood Bank service in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The voluntary blood donation will be a major project for the year in the entire district of the Ashanti Region by members of the NSGF. The program was launched by the local Scout Fellowship supported by the President of the NSGF Hon. Prosper Bani, the chairman of ISGF Africa Region committee Iddrissu Hussain and Edward Mettle Nunoo former president of Ghana Fellowship.
It took place in the Kwabre East Municipality and in a community called Gyamfi Wonoo – a new town in the Ashanti Region. Other stake holders involve the local landlords and ladies association health workers from the Methodist Faith Heading Hospital of Aukaase, Ghana Scout Association and Ghana Girl Guides Association.
It is equally significant to note that members from Gyamfi Wonoo, landlords and the ladies association, chiefs and imams all gave their blessing and supported the blood donation program.
Honorable Bonso, the municipal chief executive of Kwabre East gave full support for the program and promised to help promote in the municipality the ideals of the Scout and Guide Fellowship. Over fifty-five (55) volunteers donated blood, and more were on their way coming.
The media were also not left out of the program. The Alpha Radio, Joy News and Folly News were notified about the blood donation project.
We hope that the presidents of Afigya Kwabre North and South Districts, Kwabre East Municipality as well as health care referrals from hospital out Kwabre East will all enjoy this achievement of volunteer blood donation, at a challenging time for health delivery in the Region, and Ghana as a whole. Up till now the voluntary blood donation project is a great success.
