Dear Friends,
Since 1926, Founder’s Day & World Thinking Day is a day of international friendship, where all the Scouts & Guides come together to celebrate, reflect, and fundraise for the Movement. Today is also a time for all of us to renew our Scout/Guide Promise and our commitment to creating a better world.
We have difficult times in our National Scout and Guide Fellowships/Central Branch groups today. In many parts of the world, it is difficult to meet physically and the best possible way to have contact with other members of ISGF is by phone, email, or by video meetings. ISGF moved its World Bureau within Brussels, Belgium, where it will occupy a workstation in a rented place of a 11-storey building. Nathalie, our secretary-general, moved to the new place as of January 4, 2021 and will leave the place that ISGF had rented since 2005 and which will be transformed into social rental housing.
Let me begin by wishing everyone a happy, healthy and a fruitful New Year. We are witnessing unprecedented times as COVID-19 has virtually brought the world to a grinding halt. As of now, we are doing our best to handle the ISGF 29th World Conference 2021 as best as we can. However, we will keep you informed about any changes. The world committee and the host committee will continue to monitor the situation, we will also explore into other options including to postpone the 29th World Conference further or to have a virtual world conference.
