Fellowship Day Message 25 October 2004
The word that we hear very often in these days is “TOGETHER”
“Together we are stronger” has been the theme of European Conference in Canterbury
“Together we build the future” is the theme of the next World Conference in Lillehammer
A word that shows the path of ISGF and that can be the key word of the Fellowship Day 2004.
“Together” not only to stay well together to remember the adventures of the past or to still enjoy being together in a good friendship situation.
“Together” to build a modern, open, effective, efficient, international, and also cooperative and integrated, organization.
“Together” to build together a method of permanent education for adults based on the principles of Guiding and Scouting, a method that can help to keep alive in our adult life the spirit of Promise and Law, a method that helps us to continue to be women and men autonomous, responsible, loyal, ready to serve the others.
“Together” to build with Guides and Scouts organizations the B.-P. Family to give real and strong hopes to new generations.
Together to build with all willing good women and men a better world, a world of peace, of comprehension, of solidarity, of equality, of respect for all diversities, cultures and creeds.
A strong challenge that should involve all adults who believe in Guiding and Scouting ideals, all local, national, regional, international Fellowships of ISGF and all the others that we must involve and attract. To face this challenge, confirming our Mission, we have to revise our Vision, our Strategy, our Organization and Plans. We have resources, skills, abilities and competence to face this challenge. But now we must be aware that if anybody wants to work alone the risk is that we do many interesting and good things, but all these things can result in a negligible difference. On the contrary “all together” we can leave a track that women and men of to morrow could easily follow in all their walks of life for a better and happier life. It is alive in our heart the B.-P. hope:
“Many millions of those who have been Scouts or Guides in their time now form a leaven in the different countries of men and women who disregard minor differences and past quarrels but look forward to a future of happiness and prosperity for all through mutual and fellow-feeling.
We are in embryo an universal army or police of Peace to which the different armies of war have eventually to surrender” (1937)
